The Tree of Life

The gardens of the Hospice/VNA offices in Key West were created by the loving hands of many hospice volunteers. When the offices were “unveiled” in 1993, the gardens were made all the more special by the Lignum Vitae donated by the Key West Women’s Club. The Lignum Vitae is more popularly known as the “Tree of Life.”

This wonderful symbol is mirrored indoors by the brass Tree of Life that graces a wall in the foyer, whose leaves are engraved with the names of those who have generously supported the agency over the years. The leaves are gold, silver or bronze; and can be engraved in memory of loved ones that have passed away or with the names of the generous benefactors themselves. There are leaves still waiting to be “adopted.”
